All my problems — every single one of them — were miraculously solved one fateful night when, while scrolling aimlessly in the dark, I stumbled upon an article titled: “Unreal Engine 5: A Next-Gen Game Engine Is Here.”

“Wow,” I thought, “Oh yeah, exactly what I need!”

Let me break it down for you:

  • Chunks problem? Solved! UE5 manages chunks by itself. DONE.
  • Photorealistic appearance? Default settings practically scream next-gen! DONE.
  • Nanite for handling massive meshes. My nightmare of managing a ton of assets? DONE.

So, naturally, with all these problems checked off my list, I assumed I was ready to make my dream game. Spoiler alert: NOPE!

Why? Because Unreal Engine is not like Unity. For starters, there’s no C#. Instead, you’re expected to use C++, which, in my case, is like being handed a violin when you’ve barely mastered the triangle. My C++ skills? Nonexistent.

But wait, there’s Blueprint! A visual scripting tool that mimics C++ without requiring you to learn it. Perfect, right? “I’ll master this in 2 or 3 weeks!” I said, brimming with naive confidence. Spoiler alert #2: NOPE!

The tutorials I found online? Either vague, overly simplistic, or completely unrelated to what I actually needed. They didn’t cover the deep, nitty-gritty stuff I was looking for. Cue my confidence plummeting straight through the floor. I had a dramatic moment (picture me staring out a rain-soaked window), thinking, “I can’t do this.”

Still, with my motivation dragging behind me like a deflated balloon, I decided to give Unreal Engine a try — just to see how my assets felt inside it.

And then it happened: IMPRESSIVE! I don’t even know how to explain it, but it was like my vision finally materialized in front of me. Everything looked and felt exactly how I had imagined it in my head.

That one moment — the vibe, the feeling, the sheer Unrealness of it all — convinced me to take the plunge and really learn UE5. And here’s what I saw the very first time I opened it:
